KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Syed Saeed-uddin Nasir on Friday adjourned hearing of a constitution petition filed by Royal Business International and eight other importers of Woven and Non woven Interlinking Buckram material from China till Oct 04.

The adjournment came as law officer for Customs department offered solving the issue if petitioner re-approaches Customs Valuation department.

The petitioner citing Secretary FBR, Collectors of Customs, Model Customs Collectorate South, east and West  and Director General Valuation submitted that the DG valuation arbitrarily increased the valuation of the imported Buckram while violating procedure given under section 25 (2) of the Customs Act 1969. The DG Valuation issued Valuation Ruling  926 0f 2016 dated  8-9-2016 replacing old ruling VR 428 of 2012 after a gap of four years.

Ilyas Ahsan, Principal Appraiser, Law at the outset of the hearing said that the matter could be settled if the petitioner approaches the Valuation department which has the sole powers to revise/revisit the same.

The bench affording an opportunity to both the sides put of further hearing till Oct 04.
