KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi on Monday issued notices to the respondents in two different Special Customs Reference Applications (SCRA’s) pertaining to smuggled Iranian diesel, for mid-August.

The applications were filed by Model Customs Collectorate, MCC Hyderabad through their counsel Masooda Siraj.

The applicant maintained that she is impugning an order passed by Special Customs Appellate Tribunal, Bench III which allowed the release of the confiscated HSD of Iranian origin.

According to Customs, the oil was claimed to be purchased from HACOL but it was being transported in a carrier having appearance like one belonging to Byco. The tanker was intercepted on suspicion and later 60000 litres of oil and tanker carrying it to Arifwala Pakpattan was confiscated.
