KARACHI: Hearing a constitutional petition filed by Diamond Impex Corporation and A.R.Associates, a divisional bench of Sindh High Court on Friday directed the Customs Appellate Tribunal to decide the appeal filed by the petitioner within 30 days.
According to petitioners they have imported baby diapers which were being assessed under Valuation Ruling 775/2015 which is on higher side. Masood Siraj and Zafar Hussain Mirza Advocates appearing for the Customs Valuation submitted that the review filed by the petitioner has been decided and he has filed the appeal before the tribunal which is pending. The consignment can be released after payment of differential amount of custom duty, they agreed. The bench allowing the request by the counsel for petitioner for provisional release also ordered that pay orders of differential amount shall not be en-cashed at least 30 days after the decision by the tribunal while the tribunal was ordered to decide the appeal within 30 days.
