KARACHI: MCC Port Qasim has lodged an FIR against the importer M/s Anum Traders for attempting to evade duty and taxes to the tune of Rs3.758 million and clearing restricted goods through mis-declaration.

According to details, M/s Anum Traders imported a consignment comprising miscellaneous goods including, LED lights, switches, relay, mini microphone,   handsfree, TV tuner, computer mouse, packaging material and auto parts etc. and sought clearance through their agent M/s Hasnain Sons.

Deputy Collector Falik Sher had this information that the consignment had been grossly mis-declared in the actual description, quantity and value of the imported goods besides import of restricted goods in violation of Import Policy Order.

The consignment was examined by the Intelligence unit of MCC Port Qasim. On physical examination goods were found to be much different than the Goods Declaration. Even, the consignment included KU-Brand Universal PLL single LNBF, which is restricted to be imported.

Had this willful mis-declaration gone undetected, the undeclared restricted items would have been released in the garb of freely importable goods.

Moreover, huge difference has also been observed in the declared as well as ascertained quantities during examination.

The FIR has been lodged against the importer and investigations are underway.

It may be recalled that Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation has already lodged an FIR against M/s Anum Traders in a similar case.
