KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has seized a large quantity of unregistered and spurious drugs along with packing material and lodged an FIR against the accused involved in the activity.

According to details, on receipt of information from Provincial Drug Inspector, a raid was conducted by FIA team comprising of Inspector Muhammad lqbal along with Inspector Gulsher Mugheri, HC Mukhtar Hussain, FC Umer Draz and FC Kamran Khalid of FIA Corporate Crime Circle, Karachi and Provincial Inspector of Drugs Muhammad Arif Mithani at Noorani Medicine Market, North Napier Road, Karachi. The godown was also raided and incriminating material was seized accordingly by the Drug Inspector.

During the course of raid at above premises, huge quantity of suspected unregistered and spurious / counterfeit drugs and packing material of medicine were recovered. Samples were also sent for laboratory analysis.

The medicines seized include COFCAL, Zinetac, Relief Extra, Panadol, Voren, Viagra, Cobra, Diclocin, VIP Increased Pill, Time Plus, Penegra (Viagra), Centrum Tab, Neurobion Injection and variety of sex tablets and packing material.

During the course of initial enquiry, it transpired that the recovered drugs belong to Muhammad Tariq s/o Muhammad Farooq and Muhammad Amir s/o Muhammad Anwar.

It is established that accused and others are involved in illegal sale, purchase and re-packing of suspected to be unregistered and spurious drugs at Noorani Medicine Market, North Napier Road, Karachi. FIR has been lodged and Inspector Siraj Panhwar will investigate the case.
