KARACHI: Pakistan Fisheries Exporters Association (PAKFEA) has expressed great concern over the illegitimate use of fishing nets and boats in the creek area.

Besides, it is important to mention that PAKFEA has continuously been in quest of assistance in the said matter from all the stake holders including Ministry of Fishing & Livestock, Ministry of Commerce, TDAP, MD Karachi Fisheries etc, but no fruitful outcome achieved.

In a press release issued by PAKFEA, Faisal Iftikhar Ali, Chairman PAKFEA said the seafood industry is near to the complete disaster because for the last four months there is an enormous scarcity of fish landing and also the exporters are facing immense problems. It is also regretted that five processing plants have suspended their constant operations related to freezing units due to non availability of sea foods, he added.

In the light of above facts, PAKFEA has requested both the Federal and provincial government to take all possible and serious steps to shun this current stalemate by rescuing the sea food industry, which is undeniably a great contributor to the national ex-chequer.
