KARACHI: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has appreciated and acknowledged the team work of the officers and staff of Exports Collectorate engaged in processing of duty drawback claims and clearance of backlog of six months old claims.
Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Exports disbursed Rs4.681 billion as duty drawback during the period of February 01, 2012 to February 28, 2013 to about 133,012 claimants.
On the complaints of exporters a year ago, the FTO had said that despite repeated directives for processing and payment of rebate and duty drawback claims without delay, a large number of claims were piling up without any reason, which was tantamount to maladministration.
The FTO had recommended that the FBR should direct the collector customs to ensure timely processing and payment of all pending rebate and duty drawback claims and submit a consolidated monthly report about pendency and disposal of rebate and duty drawback claims.
