A spokesman of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) said that Advisor had called Chairman Businessmen Group and former president KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli and assured that the subject SRO would be implemented with effect from July 01, 2019.
“Teli urged the Advisor to advise Customs authorities refraining them from holding edible products consignments on the basis of said SRO. Moreover, Teli urged the Advisor to ensure speedy clearance of stuck up consignments,” the spokesman said.
It may be mentioned here that scores of containers of edible food products were stuck up at ports causing congestion and losses to the importers.
Thousands of containers were stuck up, which include import consignments of mega marts including Imtiaz, Naheed etc. “Edible products are imported from across the world and it is not easy to get the labeling in Urdu and Halal certification in such a limited time,” an importer said.[the_ad id=”31605″]
