KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mrs Ashraf Jahan ordered removing name of a clearing agent from Exit Control List (ECL).

The bench earlier heard Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate , counsel for petitioner Muhammad Qaseem whose name was placed on ECL on recommendation of NAB which filed a case against the applicant and other accused pertaining to ISAF containers.

The counsel submitted that all the co-accused including clearing agents as well as border agents have been acquitted and the petitioner also deserve the same treatment. The bench after looking into the judgment referred to by the counsel for petitioner allowed the petition ordering removal of name of the petitioner from ECL.

The same bench hearing a Special Customs Reference Application (SCRA) by another clearing Agent Javed Zubair who filed a misdeclaration in respect of a food stuff consignment from Nigeria ordered that that instant SCRA be tagged with another SCRA filed by Customs Department against clearing agent Jamil Warsi.

The department moved the court against an order of Special Customs Appellate Tribunal which sat aside penalty of rupees 500,000 imposed upon respondent Warsi.
