KARACHI: Special Customs Court Karachi on Friday admitted a clearing agent to bail against a solvent surety of rupees 0.1 million. The accused/applicant Muhammad Intezar was represented by Ghulamullah Shaikh advocate of Franklin Law Associates.
The applicant/accused was already on protective bail granted in his favour by a bench of High Court of Sindh till April 17. The counsel for applicant/accused earlier submitted before the Special Judge, Customs that his client is a clearing agent who worked on the instructions of importer. The only fault of the petitioner is that the taxes and duty were paid from the bank account of accused/applicant who did so as a good will gesture being in business with main accused/importer Kamran of Dawn Impex, the counsel submitted seeking concession of bail for Intezar.
The goods in dispute have been released and issue of taxes, duty stood settled, Ghulamullah Advocate submitted.
The Special Judge, Custom Court Karachi after hearing the counsel in detail admitted the applicant/accused to bail against a solvent surety of rupees 100,000.
