KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi fixed April 14 for hearing a Special Custom Reference Appeal (SCRA) filed by Hino Pak Motors.
The bench earlier heard Masooda Siraj advocate, counsel for Pakistan Customs who prayed for an early hearing of the case as according to her national ex-chequer is deprive of custom duty and taxes worth rupees 64.80 million.
According to details of the case available with the Customnews.pk, the applicant imported CKD kits of air-conditioned buses and trucks from Japan.
The applicant availed special discount from the supplier/principal but the same was not reflected in the commercial invoices. The reduction in assessment of duty and taxes lead to the evasion/short payment of rupees 64.80 million for which the applicant was show caused.
The applicant first filed appeals within the customs’ hierarchy and later filed an appeal before the Special Customs Appellate Court, which also ruled against the applicant after which instant SCRA was filed.
The application will now be heard and decided on April 14.
