KARACHI: MCC Gwadar has arrested two persons and recovered large quantity of ‘charas’ valuing Rs4.6 million.

According to details, on a tip off, received from Saeed Akram, Collector of Customs, Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Gwadar that 78 Kgs quantity of foreign origin Narcotics will be smuggled from Afghanistan through Quetta on RCD Highway to Karachi and then abroad.

Saeed Akram, Collector of Customs, Model Customs Collectorate, Gwadar constituted a team in the supervision of Junaid Ahmed Memon Additional Collector Gwadar,  Aftab Ullah Shah, Deputy Collector (Preventive) MCC Gwadar to intercept and foil the attempt of smuggling.

The team comprised of Muhammad Saleem, Superintendent (Preventive) and staff of the Mobile Squad Khurldiera, Custom House Gwadar.

The team held Naka at the Khurkhera and a vehicle coming from Quetta side was signaled to stop. Though the vehicle was empty, on suspicion the same was thoroughly searched and during checking the Customs recovered Charas valuing Rs4.6 million which was concealed in the upper body in the said vehicle.

The vehicle has been seized and two accused namely Gehram Khan S/o Rehyan and Nazir Ahmed S/o Raheem Dad have been arrested and FIR have been lodged.

The Customs staff posted at Turbat Airport also foiled an attempt to smuggle mobiles and seized 84 Samsung Mobiles (of different models) having market value of Rs1.8 million. One person has been arrested and FIR has been lodged under the Customs Act 1969. Further investigation into both the matters are underway.
