KARACHI: MCC Preventive has booked three persons for attempting to clear an imported consignment and maneuvered documents.
Furtherance to the investigations conducted in three previous FIRs lodged against the culprits another tip off was received that the same cartel and their accomplices involved in previous three eases have planned to get another container cleared fraudulently under the guise of Transshipment (TP) but they could not succeed to shift the container under TP scheme due to fear of being apprehended by Customs.
They went to another plan and tried to obtain re-export permission under the guise or frustrated cargo but their request- was not allowed by the Collectorate. Being perplexed with the situation the same cartel manipulated to clear the goods on payment of duty & taxes at Karachi instead of filing TP for up-country destination by way of maneuvering and preparing fake and fictitious identities.
The container was examined which resulted in the recovery of huge quantity of Qmobile phones while the goods were declared to be electronic goods & stationary. The container arrived from Hong Kong in the name of M/s Zawah Impex & Co Lahore and the same was to be transported to Lahore under TP scheme.
Subsequently, it was established Rahim Sultan Ali Meerani in collusion with Zeeshan Yousaf of M/s Digicom attempted to clear the goods through modifying the documents. Role of Haris Siddiqui of M/s Digicom is also found dubious while another person Junaid also surfaced during scrutiny.
FIR has been lodged in this regard and investigations are under way.
