KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate of Quetta in three separate operations has seized large quantity of smuggled goods and vehicles as part of ongoing campaign against smuggling.
The goods are worth millions of rupees and include cooking oil, auto parts, Mazda engines, cloth, cosmetics, tyres, lubricants, copper wire etc.
According to details, information was received from Collector Saeed Jadoon that smuggled goods and vehicles would be transported under the garb of empty apple crates through un-frequented routes.
Accordingly, Customs Mobile Squad Quetta and FC jointly conducted an operation and seized vehicles, which was loaded with smuggled products.
As no one appeared to claim the ownership of the goods, the same were seized and Advance Information Report was lodged.
It may be mentioned here that Balochistan government has unofficially advised Customs authorities to be lenient on smuggling. However, the Federal Board of Revenue has issued stern directives to root out smuggling, which has been plaguing the national economy.

Saeed Jadoon has formed a team comprising Additional Collector Dr. Fareed Salarzai and Assistant Collector Hamid Kambrani to look after anti-smuggling activities and they have been advised to strengthen the intelligence network on war footings.

The formation has been advised to keep a vigilant eye on Taftan and Chaman borders.
