KARACHI : A division bench of Sindh High Court on Wednesday directed the Director General, Customs, Evaluation to decide an appeal by an importer regarding new valuation ruling for pana flex.

The bench earlier heard counsel for importer Astrontech Inc in a petition against chairman FBR, DG Valuation, Pakistan Customs, Collector Customs Appraisement East and West who maintained that pana flex was valued under Valuation Ruling 605 of 2013. The counsel maintained that during previous two quarters petitioner imported a number of consigments which were cleared under the above cited Valuation Ruling. But since previous two months due to international crisis, the prices of petroleum products came down which in turn affected every other petroleum product. The counsel maintained that after steep fall, petitioner moved the Custom authorities for a new Valuation ruling as the last one was two years old.

The petitioner maintains that the Custom authorities remains silent and failed to re-assess and issue a new Valuation Ruling. The petitioner prayed to the court to direct the DG Valuation to issue a new Valuation Ruling and decide the matter within 15 days.

The bench with the above observations disposed of both the identical petitions.
