KARACHI: The Customs Intelligence & Investigation Peshawar has arrested one Sajid Qayyum in the case of importing explosive material (fire crackers).
Sajid Qayyum was the middleman and had provided the documents to the bonded carrier M/s Security Transport for transshipment of the consignment stuffed with fire crackers.
The Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation has seized around 3.0 tons of explosive material (fire crackers) worth Rs20 million.
It may be recalled that Director I&I Peshawar Mohammad Asghar Khan that foreign origin explosive material (fire cracker) would be moved from Karachi in the garb of glassware crockery Transshipment (TP) to Peshawar.
In pursuit, following the directives of Additional Director Ziaullah Shams, Deputy Director Khayal Mohammad formed a team headed by Superintendent Zahoor Ali.
The suspicious vehicle was intercepted at G.T Road Peshawar and physical examination of the vehicle found the container stuffed with explosives. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and investigations are underway. DG I&I –Customs, Lutfullah Virk personally monitored the entire operation.
It may be recalled that a couple of months back 320 latest bullet proof jackets made in USA, were seized in Kohat. Sensitive agencies are on board in both of these cases.
