KARACHI: The Federal government has withdrawn the increase in federal excise duty on cigarettes, which was earlier notified vide SRO 481 (I)/2015.

According to SRO 495(I)/2015 issued on July 01, the SRO 481(I)/2015 has been rescinded, which had increased the FED to Rs3,030 per thousand cigarettes in case the retail printed price exceeds Rs3,350 per thousand cigarettes.

Prior to this change the rate of FED was Rs2,632 per thousand cigarettes in case the printed retail price was Rs2,706 per thousand cigarettes.

In the other category the FED had been increased to Rs1,320 per thousand cigarettes in case the retail prices below or does not exceed Rs3,350 per thousand cigarettes.

Earlier, the FED was Rs1,085 per thousand cigarettes on the locally produced cigarettes if their on-pack printed retail price does not exceed Rs 2,706 per thousand cigarettes.[the_ad id=”31605″]
