KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Friday ordered Valuation department of Pakistan Customs to undertake an exercise for determining value of milk as per requirement of section 25 of the Customs Act 1969.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Royal Traders represented by Franklin Law Associates. The petitioner imports consignment of milk in containerized units from Alamari, Saudi Arabia. The counsel for the law firm submitted that previously small quantities were imported but now after securing dealership, petitioner company imports 6-8 containers every month. He submitted that valuation department is not determining fresh value to the detriment of the petitioner/importers.

He also sought release of the consignments provisionally.

The bench allowing the request ordered fresh value determination while ordering release of the consignments on payment of duty, taxes etc.
