KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) headed by Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi on Tuesday adjourned hearing of a petition filed by Abbas Ahmed, importer of a consignment of wire cutting scrap from China.

Zia-ul-Hasan advocate counsel for the petitioner moved an application for an urgent hearing as his consignment is inordinately being delayed due to recent boycott of lawyers over the kidnapping of Barrister Owais Shah.

The bench allowing theurgency application said that matter will be heard in detail on July 01.

The counsel for petitioner maintains in the petition that it was an issue of classification as Custom officials have no objection to 40 tones of the consignment but are disputing the 12 tones being “serviceable item”. He prayed to the court to the court to appoint a commissioner or Nazir to inspect and carry out inspection with custom officials.

The bench after hearing initial arguments issued notice of the application to the respondent Collectorate for July 01.
