KARACHI: The hearing of a customs case involving  cosmetics and toiletries worth US $ 66,182,972 (Rupees 7 bln approx.) was deferred till Feb 28 by a division bench of High Court of Sindh here on Monday.

The petition was filed by Multi Tech Corporation. The petitioner now seeks re—export facility after a dispute with Pakistan Customs.

Masooda Siraj advocate appearing for the respondent Custom department opposed the prayer on ground that SRO 344 0f 2016 lays down some mandatory conditions. The foremost is the in-bonding of the consignment at a CPF Bond, she submitted.

The counsel for petitioner argued that when an imported item is to be re-exported and not to be consumed locally there was no need for in-bonding.

The bench however due to paucity of time asking the sides to satisfy the court on their respective case supported by case laws deferred further proceedings till Feb 28.
