PESHAWAR: The Collectorate of Customs (Appraisement), Peshawar in pursuance of an information passed through Collector Amjad-ur-Rehman to Additional Collector Shahid Jan that some unscrupulous element will attempt to smuggle the banned items in the garb of legitimized export to Afghanistan, strengthened the examination of the exported consignments specially consignments of miscellaneous goods and targeted the Truck apparently loaded with a consignment of miscellaneous goods for detailed examination.
Consequent upon detailed examination of said truck resulted in recovery of DAP Fertilizer consisting of 140 bags weighing 7700 Kgs and 120 bags of Sugar weighing 6000 Kgs, which was concealed beneath the packages of miscellaneous goods.
M/S Shahzad Enterprises Imports and Exports, Torkham filed the GD through M/S Umar Enterprises, Customs Clearing Agent, Torkham for export clearance of said consignment.
As under Para-4(1) read with S.No. 10 and 14 of Schedule-1 of the Export Policy Order, 2020 the export of Sugar and Fertilizer is banned, therefore the same was seized under section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 for violation of relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969 and Imports and Exports (Control), 1950. An FIR was also lodged against the owner, driver of the vehicle, Exporter and Clearing Agent. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested on the spot and further investigation is under way.
