KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has seized 245,140 KG foreign origin kerosene oil along with six oil tankers cleared in the garb of white spirit.[the_ad id=”31605″]Information was passed through Director Irfan Jawaid that mis-declared petroleum products are transported to Karachi for illegal disposal.
In pursuance of the information, staff led by Superintendent Irshad shah intercepted six oil tankers at Hub River Road. The drivers of the vehicles provided documents showing import/clearance of Iran origin white spirit from MCC Appraisement Quetta. Letter issued by Superintendent Customs Dry Port (NLC) Quetta was also produced authorizing Hawaldar Muhammad Shafi of Customs Dry Port NLC, Quetta to escort seven vehicles of purported white spirit to Karachi. The seventh vehicle was parked near Wadh, Khuzdar due to fault.
Examination of the representative samples and subsequent report from the laboratory confirmed the goods to be Kerosene oil, which can only be imported by approved oil marketing companies. The value of the seized six consignments is Rs40.56 million.
