KARACHI: A five member Special Larger Bench of Customs Appellate Tribunal comprising Chairman Hafiz Ansar-ul-Haq, Mazhar Ali Ghallu, Member Judicial, Ihsan Ali Shah, Member Technical III, Karachi, Dr Tahir Qureshi, Member Technical I, Karachi and Fayaz Rasool Maken, Member Technical II, Karachi dismissed a number of Appeal filed on the basis of fabricated, fake Orders in Appeals, purportedly issued by the Office of the Collector of Appeals (Karachi).
The bench while deciding the appeals and controversy involved made it mandatory that department/ collectorates appearing as appellant or respondent shall verify the authenticity of the every impugned order at the initial stage of any appeal filed before the Customs Appellate Tribunal.
The bench while dismissing the appeals directed the Federal Board of Revenue to undertake a comprehensive criminal, disciplinary and administrative inquiry to identify and fix responsibility on the persons found involved in the preparation, facilitation, circulation and use of such forged orders.
