KARACHI: Chairman All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) Arshad Khurshid has voluntarily decided to surrender his membership of the Corporate Class for the upcoming APCAA elections for the tenure 2026–28, in a bid to ensure transparency, neutrality and a controversy-free electoral process.
Khurshid said that his decision reflects his commitment to the democratic process and the interests of the customs agents’ community. He clarified that the voluntary surrender of his Corporate Class membership is solely intended to remove any possible controversy surrounding the forthcoming elections and should not be construed as an admission or acceptance of any objection regarding his previous membership status.
He further categorically stated that his Chairmanship for the tenure 2024–26 remains fully protected under DGTO Order No. 40/2025 and that his present decision concerning the 2026–28 election process has no bearing whatsoever on the validity, status or rights attached to his Chairmanship for the 2024–26 tenure.
Arshad Khurshid further said that the apparent objective of the opposition is to create controversy and disrupt the APCAA elections for the tenure 2026–28, but expressed confidence that such efforts would not succeed.
“InshaAllah, they will not succeed in their efforts to disrupt the democratic electoral process of APCAA. The elections will proceed in accordance with the applicable rules and in the larger interest of the customs agents’ community,” he said.
He reiterated that APCAA’s democratic process must remain above personal interests and urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure peaceful, transparent and timely elections for the 2026–28 tenure.
