ISLAMABAD: Customs at Sost Dry Port has made two major detections including the seizure of 317 concealed mobile phones and recovery of approximately 3,540 bottles of foreign-origin liquor from a container, during intelligence-based operations conducted from 24 to 27 July 2026.
In the first operation, Customs officers, acting on credible information intercepted a prime mover coming from China bearing registration No. TMS-416 on 24 July 2026.
The examination revealed specially concealed compartments in the doors, dashboard and other parts of the vehicle.
A total of 317 old and used refurbished smart mobile phones of assorted models were recovered. The total value of the seizure is Rs 77 million. FIR No. 01/2026 was lodged on 27 July 2026 while further investigation is underway to identify the entire network and its facilitators.
In a separate operation on 27 July 2026, Customs examined a pending container at Sost Dry Port following a tip-off.
The examination revealed approximately 200 cartons containing 3,540 bottles of liquor, along with 42 cartons of pork meat/Chinese food items.
The edible goods were found to be in contravention of SRO 237(I)/2019. The value of the offending goods is estimated to be Rs 81 million.
The recovered goods have been taken into official custody; detailed inventory, valuation and legal proceedings are in progress.
