KARACHI: In a major effort to facilitate the customs agents fraternity, the Karachi Customs Agents Association successfully hosted a One-Day Training and Awareness Session for the Customs Agents Licensing Examination Test 2026 at the Rangoonwala Auditorium. The session was attended by over 350 provisional license holders and new applicants seeking guidance to clear the newly updated strict examination criteria.
The comprehensive program focused on equipping the participants with essential modern skills. Mr. Arif Sheikh, Senior Instructor, led a dedicated module on Computer Proficiency (MS Office), while a technical team from the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) provided hands-on insights into modern computerized clearing frameworks (WeBOC & PSW). To further simplify complex legal structures, Mr. Syed Tanveer Ahmed (Former Member Customs FBR) delivered a detailed lecture on the Customs Act, Rules, and Procedures, followed by an interactive mock examination and quiz preparation segment conducted by Dr. Shahab Imam (Senior Advocate & Former Senior Customs Officer).
Delivering the welcome speech, General Secretary of KCAA, Waqas Anjum Sheikh, highlighted the genuine concerns and professional anxieties being felt across the community due to strict licensing policies.
“More than 80% of our provisional license holders have dedicated nearly a decade of continuous service, acting as the practical backbone of Pakistan’s trade logistics,” noted Mr. Waqas Anjum Sheikh. He gently pointed out that expecting seasoned professionals, who have spent 15 to 20 years away from a traditional classroom environment to suddenly clear an advanced academic paper outsourced to a highly rigorous institution like IBA Karachi introduces significant practical hardship.
However, the KCAA General Secretary reassured the attendees that the association is fully committed to holding their hands through this transition. He emphasized that while the upcoming paper is undoubtedly challenging, the invaluable field experience of these agents remains their greatest asset. He concluded by reiterating that the training session was specially organized by KCAA not as a standard lecture, but as a collaborative platform bringing together the industry’s finest experts to make learning accessible, stress-free, and practical for everyone.
