KARACHI: Customs SAPT have seized a large consignment of banned obscene goods, including sex toys, which were cleverly hidden inside boxes of children’s modelling clay.
The operation was initiated on the instructions of Collector of Customs, Nayyar Shafique, who acted on specific information. Following his directives, officials closely examined a container that had arrived from China.
The consignment was declared by the importer, M/s Achieve Trade from Lahore, as “Children Moulding Clay” with a total weight of 11,620 kilograms. However, when customs officials physically checked the container, they made a shocking discovery.
While most of the container was filled with 446 cartons of clay, officials found two large bales packed with battery-operated sex toys and 37 bales containing manual sex toys, weighing over 2,000 kilograms in total. The banned items were deliberately hidden at the back of the container to avoid detection.
Customs officials stated that the importer, identified as Qaiser Saeed, and his clearing agent, knowingly attempted to smuggle prohibited goods into Pakistan by misdeclaring the contents. The total value of the seized obscene goods is approximately Rs. 1.94 million.
“The manner of packing shows a deliberate and fraudulent design to mislead customs,” an official said. “The prohibited goods were carefully hidden to create a false impression that the entire shipment was just clay.”
A case has been registered against the importer, the clearing agent, and their facilitators under the Customs Act, the Import Policy Order 2022, and other relevant laws.
