KARACHI: Hearing a Special Customs Reference Application (SCRA) filed by Pakistan Customs, Enforcement Karachi, a customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh ordered issuance of notices to the respondents for May 14 while suspending judgement in Customs Appeal No H-2516 of 2024.

The bench comprising Justice Agha Faisal and Justice Jan Ali Juenjo earlier heard Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate, counsel for the applicant department who came up with questions of law. One question of law pertains to finality of Order in Original if the respondent/importer has paid duty, taxes, redemption fine for taking delivery of the goods. The second question is related to a delay of 35 days which was not condoned by the tribunal at any stage of proceedings.

The bench after a brief hearing placed respondent importer on notice for May 14 while suspending the order of the tribunal.
