KARACHI: Hearing a Special Customs Reference Application (SCRA) filed by Collector of Customs (East) Karachi against M/s Pest Management Service (Pvt) Limited, Karachi, a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh suspended judgment passed by Customs Appellate Tribunal in Custom Appeal No K-1344 of 2025.
The bench earlier heard Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate, counsel for applicant department whose main question of law was Whether Section 20 (d) of the Import Policy Order (IPO) 2022, or Section 138 of the Customs Act 1969 can legally be applied to goods imported in violation of provisions of IPO-2022.
The issue pertains to import of Methyl Bromide 100% by respondent company despite cancellation of permission by the Department of Plant Protection. The allegation also include misdeclaration of origin of goods.
The bench while suspending the impugned judgment ordered issuance of notice to the respondents for March 09.
