KARACHI: Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has filed a representation before the Chairman of Appellate Tribunals, Inland Revenue seeking alternate arrangement and mechanism for filing / accepting appeals and stay applications  in the wake of on-going strike by  employees of Appellate Tribunal, Inland Revenue, Karachi.

KTBA reminds the chairman that the Appellate Tribunal is the first independent forum of appeals and hence its functioning is of primary importance. It maintained that due to current strike, the appellate process has come to a halt with new appeals and stay applications acceptance is being refused.

This situation has created a serious predicament for the tax payers says KTBA President Muhammad Mehmood Bikiya and Honorary General Secretary Shams Mohiuddin Ansari says in a letter to the Chairman IR Appellate Tribunals requesting prompt appropriate measures to safeguard tax payers statutory right of appeal.
