KARACHI: All Pakistan Betel Nuts Importers Association filed a representation before the Federal Secretary, Ministry of National Food Security & Research impugning a Notification No KP.42/2018 (PMDU) Notification dated 21-7-2025. The representation was filed through Asif Ali Abro Advocate.
The notification names nine (9) Laboratories for testing of plant products including IAC HEJ Laboratory, Karachi. According to the Association, HEJ Lab was given undue preference in the notification which reads that “In the event of any dispute arising from the testing results, IAC HEJ Laboratory shall serve as the designated reference laboratory for final determination”.
The representation seeks rescinding of clause 3 of the PMDU Notification ending “superior status” of HEJ Laboratory.
