Karachi: In a joint operation carried out on the intervening night of January 9 and 10, the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, in collaboration with 91 Wing Rangers, successfully intercepted a large consignment of foreign-origin goods at Yousaf Goth Bus Terminal.

According to officials, the operation led to the recovery of 10 Mazdas and 6 Shahzors loaded with mixed contraband items. The seized goods include foreign-origin foodstuff, skim milk, crockery, tiles, ajinomoto, Amazon Kindle tablets, watches, fabric, and other assorted merchandise.

All consignments have been shifted to the Customs Godown, where a detailed inventory is being prepared. Initial estimates suggest the market value of the seized items runs into millions of rupees, though the exact valuation will be shared with the media once the assessment is complete.

Authorities hailed the operation as a significant step in curbing smuggling activities in Karachi, underscoring the ongoing collaboration between Customs Enforcement and paramilitary forces to safeguard the country’s economic interests.
