KARACHI: Karachi Bar Association (KBA) and Sindh Bar Council withdrew indefinite strike call against registration of a FIR lodged by Mian Ali Ashfaq Advocate, counsel for U-Tuber Rajab Butt facing blasphemy charges in a FIR registered by PS Haidery, Karachi on a complaint filed by Advocate Riaz Ali Solangi.
Earlier KBA held a General Body meeting to take stock of the entire controversy after Mian Ali Ashfaq contacted KBA and expressed intention to settle the issue amicably. KBA agreed to the proposal and offered to become arbitrator in deciding the controversy. It was also decided that Mian Ali Ashfaq will visit KBA on January 03 when KBA will hear both the sides. Till then no action will be taken against the lawyers nominated in FIR lodged by counsel of Rajab Butt who was subjected to torture and attack by a group of lawyers.
As result of strike call off, routine court work is expected on Thursday (today) till Saturday when arbitration will be held by KBA.
