KARACHI: In a significant operation against illegal activities, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, successfully conducted an intelligence-based operation on 20 December 2025. This operation was directed by Chief Collector Enforcement Islamabad Mr Basit Maqsood Abbasi and Collector Enforcement Karachi Mr Moin Wani. Under the supervision of Additional Collector Raza Naqvi, the operation was led by Assistant Collector (ASO) Ms Bisma Noor Jatoi and targeted illegal/smuggled POL products at Northern Bypass, Karachi.
The operation commenced at 1400 hours and continued until 2330 hours. During this time, the ASO team raided five dumping points operating under the guise of petrol pumps. The operation resulted in the recovery of a large quantity of foreign-origin smuggled diesel and petrol. Notably, a Mazda vehicle fitted with a large specially designed box for transporting POL products was found unloading Iranian Diesel and was taken into custody.
All recovered POL products were transported to a warehouse for measurement through dip. Upon completion of the dip, a total of 64,578 litres of diesel and petrol, valued at approximately Rs 16.5 million, was recovered. The seized Mazda vehicle is valued at approximately Rs. 20 million. Consequently, the total value of the case amounts to approximately Rs. 36.5 million.
The details of the recovered POL products are as follows: Iranian smuggled Diesel recovered from petrol pumps: 43,000 litres, Iranian smuggled Petrol recovered from petrol pumps: 10,139 litres, Iranian smuggled Diesel recovered from Mazda vehicle: 11,439 litres.
This operation underscores the commitment of the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, to combat smuggling and protect the national economy.
