KARACHI: A custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Agha Faisal and Justice Muhammad Osman Ali Hadi allowed a Special Customs Reference Application filed by Directorate of Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) of Pakistan Customs in respect of a vehicle used in smuggling of betel nuts.
Khalid Mehmood Rajper Advocate appeared for the applicant department and relied upon a recent judgment of Supreme Court of Pakistan reported as 2025-SCMR-1912 and another titled Muhammad Ishaq in Civil Petition No 2853/2025 and submitted that questions of law proposed in the SCRA have been decided by the apex court which is binding on SHC. The bench in view of apex court judgment allowed the SCRA. The effect of the order will be the confiscation of vehicle used in smuggling having specially designed cavities for smuggling of contraband.
