KARACHI: With Muhammad Haseeb Jamali’s success as President of Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), Sindh seems to be poised to lead lawyers movement against 27th Constitutional Amendment.
The elections of SHBCA were gauged as referendum on the point that whether the lawyers will oppose and fight against the 27th constitutional amendment or will the proponents of status quo will reign supreme. In the elections held on Saturday, the win of majority of elected office bearers makes it clear that Sindh Lawyers Action Committee will be arranging a mega convention to decide the line of action for a sustained movement against the newly introduced amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973 making the sacred document redundant as believed by the opponent of 27th Constitutional Amendment.
It is noteworthy that lawyers proposed moved was shelved till elections of the SHCBA and now after the result it is said that soon a movement will begin from Karachi to Sukkur and may give hard time to the present government.
