KARACHI: Perturbed by the vacant post of Commissioner Appeals-V, Karachi, Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has demanded of the Chairman FBR to fill the vacant position.
In a letter addressed to Chairman FBR, KTBA said that additional charge was given to the Commissioner IR–Appeals- VII who was already under heavy load of work. The additional charge was then given to the Commissioner–Appeals IV but this also did not work well resulting in administrative gap and consequences for the litigants.
The absence of a dedicated Commissioner IR (Appeal-V) to hear stay applications, the department has initiated coercive recovery proceedings without fair opportunity of trial on appeals, the KTBA President Ali A Rahim and Shams Mohiuddin Ansari, Honorary General Secretary said in the letter requesting the Chairman FBR to appoint a dedicated officer on urgent basis.
