KARACHI: In a closely watched election marked by high voter turnout and narrow margins, the Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) has announced its new leadership for the 2025-2026 term. The election, held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, saw Yahya Muhammad narrowly clinch the position of President with 513 votes, defeating his rival Guizar Shah Mashwani who secured 501 votes.
The results, officially declared by the association’s Election Commission, reveal a competitive race across all key positions, reflecting a vibrant democratic process within the city’s customs and clearing sector.
A Nail-Biting Presidential Race
The race for the top office set the tone for the entire election. With a mere 12-vote difference, Yahya Muhammad emerged victorious, indicating a nearly split mandate from the association’s members. The outcome underscores the competitive landscape and the high stakes involved in leading the influential body.
New Office Bearers Announced
The elections for other senior positions were equally compelling:
Senior Vice President: Tariq Rasheed Khan won with 512 votes, beating Mehmodul Hasan Awan (502 votes).
Vice Presidents: Eight candidates were elected to the Vice President posts. The top vote-getters for this position were Zahid Sharif (519 votes), followed by Imran Aurangzeb Khan and Rana Zahid Farooq, who both secured 517 votes.
General Secretary: Sheikh Waqas Anjum was elected with a strong mandate of 518 votes, overcoming Zahid Bashir Choudhry who received 496 votes.
Joint Secretary: Danish Riaz won by a significant margin, garnering 528 votes against Aanir Ahmed Butt’s 486.
Information Secretary: Noor Ali secured the position with 515 votes, while Zafar Iqbal obtained 496 votes.
Finance Secretary: In one of the closer races for a secretarial position, Amir Mansha won with 508 votes, just edging out Muhammad Munaf Jangda who received 506 votes.
Managing Committee Members Elected
The election for the 38-member Managing Committee also saw intense competition. Shiraz Shaulat led the pack as the highest-voted individual in the entire election, receiving an impressive 535 votes. Other top performers in the committee included Muhammad Touseef Malik (524 votes), Muhammad Nadeemullah (523 votes), and Muhammad Kashif Ishaq (522 votes).
The full list of elected committee members includes a mix of experienced and new faces, promising a diverse representation within the association’s governing body.
Election Commission Oversees Democratic Process
The entire electoral process was supervised and certified by the KCAA Election Commission. The commission members, Ashhad Jamal and Ashraf Aftab, worked under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Wasta Hussain Khan.
In their official declaration, the commission affirmed the integrity of the election process and announced the results as final. The newly elected body is now set to take charge and guide the Karachi Customs Agents Association through the challenges and opportunities of the coming year.
