KARACHI: A constitutional bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) adjourned hearing of a petition filed by China Gezhouba Group of Companies till Sept 29 directing the counsel for petitioner to satisfy the bench on issue that can the amount of duty and taxes for the purpose of provisional release may exceed the amount alleged in the Show Cause Notice.

Earlier, Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate representing customs department filed a statement enclosing copy of the Order in Original and submitted that Show Cause Notice issued against the Petitioner company has been dropped and the matter has been referred to the Classification Committee. He further stated that in the meanwhile goods have been assessed provisionally under section 83 (B) of the Customs Act 1969 to afford provisional release of the goods.

The bench after hearing the sides adjourned further proceedings till Sept 23 when Adnan Motan Advocate, counsel for the petition will satisfy the court on the issue of amount assessed provisionally.
