KARACHI: A constitutional bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Muhammad Usman Ali Hadi dismissed over a dozen constitutional petitions filed by manufacturers and exporters of textile products challenging a notification issued on 30.10.2019 by Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (previously KW&SB) whereby water tariff rates were increased by 9 per cent from 01.07.2017 (retrospective effect).

In a detailed judgment spreading over eleven pages, the bench was of the opinion that factual controversies raised by the Petitioners could have been addressed through such forum and not in this constitutional jurisdiction. The bench set the petitioners at liberty to  invoke any statutory remedy available to them.

The petitioners were represented by Chaudhry Atif Rafique, Makhdoom Muhammad Talha, Naeem Suleman, Arshad Hussain, Faiz Mehmood Khan Durrani, Sundar Lal Lohana Advocate while KWSC was represented by Waleed Rehan Khanzada Advocate.
