KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially announced the promotion of several officers in the Pakistan Customs Service (PCS), marking significant career advancements within the department.
Among those promoted is Mr. Muhammad Farukh Sharif, who has been elevated from BS-19 to BS-20. Currently on leave abroad until September 12, 2025, his promotion takes effect immediately but will be actualized upon his return, in line with the Civil Servants Promotion Rules of 2019.
Mr. Muhammad Raza, previously serving as Collector (OPS), Collectorate of Customs (Adjudication), Lahore, has been promoted to BS-20 against a temporary vacancy. He will continue in his current role unless the vacancy ceases to exist upon the return of another officer.
Similarly, Mr. Azood-ul-Mehdi, formerly Director (OPS), Directorate of Customs Valuation, Quetta, has been elevated to BS-20 on a regular basis. His new assignment sees him posted as Collector, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Peshawar, while also assuming additional responsibilities in Kohat.
Further promotions include Mr. Muhammad Arshad Hayat Chaudary, who currently serves as Joint Secretary, Finance Division, Islamabad on deputation. His elevation to BS-20 will be finalized upon his return from deputation.
The FBR has also promoted Mr. Omar Shafique and Mr. Adeem Khan, both Collectors (OPS) in Quetta and Karachi, respectively, to BS-20 while retaining their current posts.
Additionally, Mr. Javed Sarwar Sheikh, formerly Additional Collector, Collectorate of Customs (Adjudication-I), Karachi, has been promoted to BS-20 and transferred to Director, Directorate General of Law & Prosecution (Customs), Islamabad.
Other officers advancing to BS-20 include Mr. Rizwan Basharat, who will remain in Faisalabad, and Ms. Farah Farooq, currently on deputation as Joint Secretary, Economic Affairs Division, Islamabad. Her promotion will be formalized upon return.
Finally, Mr. Muteen Alam, previously Collector, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Peshawar, has been reassigned as Collector, HQs-Appraisement, South, Karachi, effective immediately.
These promotions reflect the FBR’s commitment to strengthening leadership within Pakistan Customs and ensuring continuity in key administrative roles.
