LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue has assigned tax officials to monitor production, sales, and stock at major beverage manufacturing units across the country, according to an order issued this week.
The directive, dated April 24, 2025, cites powers under the Sales Tax Act and Federal Excise Act to post officers at facilities operated by companies including Coca-Cola, Nestlé, and Qarshi Industries. The move aims to enhance oversight of tax compliance in the sector.
Officials from regional tax offices will be stationed at 21 production sites for an initial 15-day period, with the possibility of extension or early revocation. Among the units under scrutiny are Coca-Cola plants in Rahim Yar Khan, Karachi, and Lahore, as well as Nestlé facilities in Port Qasim and Islamabad.
The order suppresses a previous directive from April 9 and requires a report on the monitoring exercise upon completion.
