Multan: In a significant crackdown against smuggling, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Multan conducted a successful raid on the Jaffer Express Train (39-UP), uncovering a massive cache of smuggled and non-duty-paid goods. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Deputy Collector Jawwad ul Hasan, with oversight from DC ASO Multan.
Intelligence regarding the illegal transportation of goods was initially relayed through Chief Collector Basit Abbasi to Collector Sumair Tarar and Additional Collector (ADC) Syed Itrat Husain. Acting swiftly on this critical information, ASO teams intercepted the train and conducted a thorough search of its Brake Van and luggage compartments. In a short span of time, the authorities registered three separate smuggling cases tied to the Jaffer Express.
Seized Contraband
A wide assortment of smuggled goods was discovered, ranging from food items and cosmetics to automotive parts and electronics. Among the recovered items were:

Face Cream & Face Wash (Soapex Brand) – 228 pcs, valued at Rs. 50,507

Used Car Doors – 3 pieces, valued at Rs. 12,899
Instant Dry Yeast – 360 pcs, valued at Rs. 130,024
Gillette Razors – 1,180 pcs, valued at Rs. 67,649
Nokia Mobile Chargers – 1,970 pcs, valued at Rs. 118,586
Phone Batteries – 1,950 pcs, valued at Rs. 67,076
Eyeliner and Mascara (Assorted Brands) – 1,600 pcs, valued at Rs. 1,813,294
VFD Solar Inverters (2.5kW capacity) – 32 pcs, valued at Rs. 963,138
Green Cardamom – 70kg, valued at Rs. 112,366
Financial Implications
The total value of the confiscated goods stands at Rs. 3.492 million, while the estimated duty and taxes involved amount to Rs. 4.159 million, bringing the total case valuation to Rs. 7.651 million.
