KHUZDAR: Customs team at Khurkhera, under the strict directives of Collector Khuzdar, Mr. Saleem Memon, successfully intercepted a Hino truck suspected of carrying contraband goods.

The vehicle, which was en route from Quetta to Karachi, failed to comply with the stop signal at the Customs checkpoint and instead, sped towards its destination, prompting a high-speed pursuit by the Customs officials.

The chase culminated near Hassan Hotel opposite Dam Mor on the Main RCD Road, Winder, where the driver abandoned the truck and managed to escape before the Customs staff could apprehend them. A subsequent investigation at the scene did not yield any claimants for the ownership of the truck or its cargo.

The vehicle was then secured and transported to the Customs Check Post Khurkhera for a detailed inspection. A thorough search revealed a hidden stash of Betel Nuts, amounting to 300 bags, each weighing 12 kilograms, totaling a substantial 3600 kilograms, cleverly concealed beneath a layer of local wood.

In light of the discovery, the Customs officials seized the illicit goods along with the vehicle. A formal case has been registered, and an extensive investigation is currently in progress to uncover the individuals behind this smuggling operation.

This operation marks another victory for the Customs Department in their ongoing battle against illegal trade practices and highlights the dedication and alertness of the personnel involved in safeguarding the nation’s economic borders.
