KARACHI: More consignments imported by different importers were ordered to be released on securing disputed amount of duty and taxes if the Custom Appellate Tribunal has ruled in favor of the appellants/importers.
The orders came from Customs Appellate bench of High Court of Sindh giving interim relief to petitioners. The bench passing identical orders in a number of petitions held that in cases wherein Valuation Ruling is suspended and Order in Revision is also set aside by the Custom Appellate Tribunals, the petitioners in exceptional cases are entitle to interim relief.
The bench after hearing all sides particularly Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate, counsel for Pakistan Customs who opposed any relief to the petitioner, disagreeing with his contentions allowed interim relief of release of goods on securing disputed amount of duty and taxes before the Nazir of Sindh High Court.
