KARACHI: A number of constitutional petitions seeking release of imported goods were disposed off under identical order passed by Customs Appellate bench of High court of Sindh comprising Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Adnan-ul-Karim Memon.
“In this petition by way of an ad-interim order, the consignment (s) imported by the petitioner have been ordered to be released after securing disputed amount of duty and taxes before the Nazir of this Court either by way of pay order or bank guarantee, whereas the main controversy as to the validity of the Valuation Ruling is pending before this Court in different custom reference applications. For all practical purposes, this petition served its purpose, hence disposed off, whereas the fate of the amount lying with the Nazir of this court shall be subject to final decision in the respective reference applications”, the order said replicated in petitions of identical nature.
