HYDERABD: During various operations in the last three weeks, the field enforcement units of Customs Khuzdar recovered 54 metric tons of sugar, 70 metric tons of fertilizer, and 64 metric tons of flour loaded in 4 vehicles at Sorab and Kor Khetra check posts on the Quetta-Karachi route.

To stop the smuggling of sugar, urea fertilizer, flour and other edible items, the Prime Minister of Pakistan mobilized Mr. Tariq Pasha, Special Assistant on Economics to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who issued instructions to the Chairman FBR, Mr. Asim Ahmed, for the strictest measures.

In the light of which, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Member Customs Operation Mr. Mukram Jah Ansari and Chief Collector Customs Yaqoob Mako ordered to take more stringent measures.

Collector Enforcement Khuzdar Imran Sajjad Bukhari formed a team under the supervision of Additional Collector Enforcement Sajid Baloch and Deputy Collector Rana Umair. The team took various actions in the last 20 days to stop the large quantity of sugar, urea fertilizer and flour that was being smuggled to neighboring countries.

Collector Khuzdar Imran sajjad bukhari also holds the charge of Hyderabad. Customs Hyderabad also seized 80 ton fertilizer and 60 ton sugar.

Khuzdar is a newly formed enforcement collectorate with a total strength of 50 persons including officers, officials and sepoys. The jurisdiction is spanned over 1500 kilometers of RCD Highway. RCD highway also known as killer highway is dangerous place to conduct anti-smuggling activities with a total strength of mere 50 persons. Whenever action is taken against smugglers, a mob of thousands come at the highway, attack Customs staff, block the traffic and create law and order situation.

Seeing the need of certain civil facilities, Khuzdar Customs have setup a hospital/clinic, blood bank and ambulance service in the area.
