MULTAN: Customs Multan has foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign currency abroad. An amount of 111,500 Saudi Riyals (SR) have been recovered from a passenger namely Noman S/o Muhammad Ayoub R/o Multan who was traveling from Multan Airport to Dubai through Airblue Flight No. PA-810.

The passenger declared 1,500 SR at Customs Currency Declaration Counter (which is the first desk for guidance and currency declaration) in departure hall of the airport.  However, this foreign currency has been detected subsequently during search.

The currency was concealed in a trolley bag under the clothes. The said amount i.e. 111,500 Saudi Riyal has been detained, and the accused has been arrested and remand has been obtained from Special Judge, Customs for further investigation and legal action.

Collector Multan Muhammad Tahir has advised the Customs formation to keep strict vigilance on the movement of passengers and to check any attempt of smuggling, particularly smuggling of foreign currency.
