QUETTA: Customs Enforcement Quetta has foiled several attempts of currency smuggling through Afghan border and lodged separate FIRs against Muhammad Aif and Muhammad Zahir.

On the directives of Chief Collector Quetta Abdul Qadir Memon, Collector Enforcement Samiulhaq, Additional Collector Moin Afzal and Assistant Collector Asad Aleem have expedited the efforts against smuggling, and cases on daily basis are being made.

Customs staff posted at Friendship Gate chaman in collaboration with Army recovered an amount of Rs2.0 million each being illegally transferred, by Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Zahir travelling from Afghanistan to Pakistan.

Member Customs – Federal Board of Revenue Mukarram Jah Ansari directed customs and other concerned authorities to take strict measures for the stopping the smuggling foreign and Pakistani currency to Afghanistan.

In recent months, the Customs authorities made about 100 seizures involving foreign currency equivalent to $4.2 million.

Government at a meeting discussed and reviewed the economic situation as well as the current mechanism for preventing the smuggling of foreign currency, wheat and urea. Various measures are being implemented in order to strengthen the anti-smuggling regime.

The finance minister, highlighting the economic situation in the country, has stressed the need for coordination among all the necessary platforms for this purpose.
