KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh allowed identical pleas taken in three different petitions and allowed provisional release as “interim arrangement” on securing disputed amount of duty, taxes and other levies.

The bench heard the petitions filed by MM Traders, Aziz Products and Multi Chem through law firm Franklin Law Associates. The petitions were heard separately and orders were passed accordingly. The counsel from the law firm argued that application against Valuation Rulings are pending decision before the Director General Valuation.

The bench through separate but identical orders disposed of the petitions after ordering interim arrangement. The bench ordered the petitioners to deposit the disputed amount of duty and taxes with the Nazir of the Court and upon satisfaction of Nazir, consignment be released.

The bench also ordered that fate of the secured amount will be linked to the decision in applications challenging the Valuation Rulings concerned.
